- Cutting back or ornamantal grasses and
removal of plant debris
- Apply anti-dessicant to help reduce winter
injury
- Leaf removal and disposal
- Pruning/ Thinning of small flowering trees
and shrubs to allow light penetration
- Planting bed grooming in preparation for
springtime mulching
- Apply an accumulated mulch depth of 2
in. to all bedding areas
- Apply pre-emergent weed control prior
to mulching

September) |
- Grooming and deadheading of shrubs and
perennials to prolong bloom cycles
- Fertilize trees and shrubs with a balanced
slow release fertilizer (Holly-Tone or similar )
- Remove early season bulbs and replace
with brilliant summer annuals
- Shear/ shape evergreens, hand thin as
needed
- Prune/ Shape summer flowering shrubs after
flowering to preserve appearance and set flower buds for
next year
- Monitor all garden areas for pests and
diseases
- Proactive, preventative care of all plants
- Perform soil testing
- Develop and implement fertilization, weed
prevention and pruning programs
- Watering of lawns and shrubs to
prevent wilt. Usually 2-3 times per week of deep root soaking.
Both high temperatures and drying winds can quickly affect
the health of young plants.
